Fred Helmer
-
Fred Helmer was born in 1955, and has owned and operated Fred's
Custom Tackle since 1978. With the excellent staff at the tackle
shop Fred is able to concentrate and spend much of his time on the
water providing guests from around the world a guided fishing trip
second to none! His committed involvement with conservation,
tagging programs, and leadership roles in a number of societies
keep him very busy but are necessary to ensure good management of
our precious fisheries. Although Fred has sold his shares in
Fred’s Fishing Adventures and the BC Sport Fishing Group Ltd to
long time partner Tony Nootebos Fred remains very active in the
company and along with Tony, promise to provide the best service
in the fishing charter business today!

Tony Nootebos -
Tony is the owner of the BC Sport Fishing Group Ltd and its
subsidiaries Fred’s Fishing Adventures, Harrison Bay Guided
Services, and BC Fly Fisher Guiding Company. Tony has been fishing
the Fraser Valley for most of his life. He grew up fishing with
his brother John, and father Gerry, covering most lakes, rivers
and streams in region 2. Tony’s 30 years of experience and passion
for fishing led him to the fishing industry, and in 1996 he
formed Harrison Bay Guided Services. With his extensive knowledge
of the Fraser River and its many tributaries business boomed and
today Tony has 18 fully insured and licensed fishing guides
working for him.
Tony lives in Harrison Hot Springs with his wife Elan two boys
Quinton, and Nathan, and daughter Molly. When not Guiding Tony can
be found in his Guide shop, on the golf course, or fishing with
the family. Let’s go fishing! |

Dan
Hartlen -
Danny
grew up living in
Chilliwack
B.C. and has been fishing the Fraser river and its tributaries for
over 40 years and has been guiding for 25 of those 30 years with
the BC Sport Fishing Group team!
There are not many fishing spots in the Fraser valley that Dan
does not know or has not experienced first hand. He is always
looking for the next "HOT SPOT!" Dan's other hobbies include
Hockey, Swimming, Golfing, and Hiking, although most of his hikes
are around water, checking out new fishing locations. Dan's good
humor and constant pranks along with his great ability to find
fish consistently make for a great day on the water. |

Chad McAdie -
Chad has been guiding full time for Fred's Fishing Adventures for
the past 11 years. He has been fishing the Fraser Valley his whole
life and lives in Mission B.C. only 2 minutes from the Fraser and
Dewdney rivers where he grew up. On his free time Chad loves to
golf, has a zero handicap and played on the Canadian tour for 2
years enjoying the many golf courses along the way. Chad also
enjoys playing rec. hockey and spending time with his wife Shana
and his two children Jaiden, and Jude. It does not matter if you
choose to fish a small river for trout on the fly rod or want to
fight a true dinosaur the white sturgeon Chad’s professional
approach to your guiding experience will ensure a sport fishing
memory for years to come. |

Anthony "Merr" Sprangers -
Anthony "Merr" Sprangers has years of experience fishing the
rivers of the Fraser valley, as well as the local and interior
lakes. “Merr” is in his 11th year guiding for the BC
Sport Fishing Group team.
The fact that Merr enjoys helping you catch fish as much as he
enjoys catching them himself has helped him become an exceptional
guide. Merr aims to please and isn't satisfied until his customers
are busy battling fish (preferably large ones that won't fit in
the boat). We are sure that with Merr as you're guide, you will
have a great day on the water that will have you craving more

Erik Skaaning -
Erik
was born and raised in the Fraser Valley in the Chilliwack area.
He grew up fishing the local waters, both with conventional gear
and fly rod in hand. Erik's true passion is fly fishing and with
years of practice and dedication to the sport, he now considered
one of the area's premier fly guides.
In 1995 Erik began guiding on the World renowned Babine, and Dean
Rivers, and has guided for some of the best, including "Silver
Hilton Lodge". Eric has been guiding our local waters for the past
10 years, offering guests from around the world a first class
experience. Erik is now in his 8th year guiding for the
BC Sport Fishing Group team.
Whether you want to learn how to catch Steelhead or Salmon on the
fly, or go catch a Mighty White Sturgeon, Erik is up to the
Challenge!! When not fishing, you will find Erik Bow Hunting
around the province, or spending time with his wife Kelly, and his
8 year old twins Sage, and Emma.

Jordi Williams -
Jordi was born and raised in British Columbia. Ever since he can
remember Jordi has been fishing B.C.'s bountiful waters for
everything from Rainbow Trout to the mighty White Sturgeon. Jordi
and his wife Krisztina live only 10 minutes from the famed fishing
grounds of the Harrison and Fraser river systems where they can
often be found walking their daughter Cassandra and throwing
sticks for Netty their golden retriever. Jordi’s Guiding accolades
include 3 seasons with West Coast Resorts 'Redfern River Lodge’
nestled in the heart of Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, specializing
in whitewater drift trips, and float plane river and lake fishing
excursions. In addition to this Jordi has guided at the
prestigious five star ‘Kau Tapen Lodge’ on the Rio Grande River in
Tierra del Fuego, southern Argentina for sea-run brown trout to
30lbs on the fly. Jordi has a combined 25 + years of fishing
experience on our local waters and is in his 5th year
guiding for the BC Sport Fishing Group. We are positive you will
have an unforgettable time on the water with Jordi!

Yves Bisson -
- Yves is now in his 4th year with the BC Sport Fishing Group
team. He lives in Rosedale, B.C. with his wife Ruth and three
girls Lauren, Grace, and Lily.
Although Yves was born and raised in Alberta, he has always had a
passion for fishing, and since moving to British Columbia has
spent much of his spare time getting to know the local waters.
Yves favorite pastimes include golf, (he is a 2 handicap), ice
hockey, spending time with the family, and of course fishing. In
2007 Yves purchased a brand new 23 foot Wooldridge jet boat with a
496 Chevy to take his fishing to the next level. You will enjoy
the ride!
Yves is a great fisherman, but you will also enjoy his easy going
personality, good humor and professional approach to providing you
with a sport fishing holiday of a life time!

Shane Marshall - Shane was
born and raised in the Lower Mainland and has been fishing the
Fraser Valley for the past 20 years. Fishing and the outdoors has
been an extreme passion and lifestyle for Shane so it was only
fitting to become a fishing guide to be able to do what he loves
daily and be able to share it with others. Shane is in his 3rd
year with the BC Sport Fishing Group team.
In his spare time
you are likely to find Shane fishing either on the Vedder River
which is within eyesight of his home or out in his North River on
the Fraser River catching and tagging sturgeon and keeping sharp
on his fishing skills! He also enjoys extreme skiing and spending
time with his wife Colleen and 6 year son Christopher.
Shane’s enthusiastic
nature, love of sport fishing and eagerness to get others into
fish are sure to provide you with an enjoyable day out and keep
you coming back for more! |

Rick Baerg -
At
36, Rick has been fishing
British Columbia
waters since before he can remember. Rick grew up in Terrace, on
the north coast of BC, from when he was six. The
Skeena
River
and countless others are very close to where he was raised, so
fishing was a daily activity. When he was fifteen, his family
moved to Williams Lake, in the Chilcotin area of interior BC. Rick
spent a great deal of his time over the next few years on the
area's rivers and trophy trout lakes fishing for anything that
would bite a fly!
Rick has lived in the Fraser Valley since 1993, and spent
countless hours on the rivers in the surrounding areas of
southwestern British Columbia. Rick has been guiding for 10 years
in the Valley, he is an accomplished Spey and fly caster and is
always willing to pass on the knowledge. He remains as ardent
about the sport and tying flies as when he was 12. Rick is now in
his fourth year with the BC Sport Fishing Group fishing team. He
lives in Chilliwack B.C. with his wife Melanie, and their two
girls; four year old Noella and two year old Cora. |

Frank Kozel -
Frank
has lived in the
Fraser
Valley most of his life and has spent a big part of it sport
fishing. Over the years Frank has learned the art of fly fishing,
spent time bait fishing, spoon fishing and has become obsessed
with guiding for our world class Great White Sturgeon. Being a
fishing guide is a natural fit for Frank as he has been showing
and teaching friends and family how to fish for years. Frank and
his family: wife Kristi and son Trevan, live in Harrison Hot
Springs just minutes from the local boat launch.
Frank will be starting his fifth year with the BC Sport Fishing
Group and we are proud to have him.

Tyler Buck -
Born and raised in Chilliwack, Tyler at a young age followed in
his father’s footsteps with a passion and desire to fish. Growing
up on the Fraser and its many tributaries has provided him the
opportunity to gain extensive knowledge and become a very
proficient and experienced guide. Now at age 27, Tyler has been a
part of fishing tackle industry for 12 years, and has been guiding
for the BC Sport Fishing Group for the last 8 of them. Tyler's
love for fishing, professional work attitude, extensive knowledge
and dedication to success make Tyler a great asset to our
team. With his eagerness to please and good nature, we are sure
you will enjoy your fishing experience with Tyler. |
