Meat Shot Mike
June 26th, 2009So typically when you fish for Sturgeon 12 months of the year you need a bit of variety added to your fishing agenda. Our guides generally walk the Vedder for steelhead January to April. But then theres this wide open space where it's back to Sturgeon again (obviously the guides throw in some Cutthroat Trout fishing and the odd day to the Lillooet or Upper Pitt when their pocket books can afford that full tank of gas)!
Variety is always welcome when it comes to fishing so you can only imagine our guides excitement when Salmon season opens June 16th. It's like a fly on you-know-what! Mike is clearly the most guilty of our guides for extreme levels of enthusiasm towards Salmon fishing. Well- this year it paid off Mike was the first to land a Chinook for the year- he caught four fish biggest was 18lbs. the other evening. The oddest part about the evening was that one of the 4 fish was a sockeye that popped off just as he was about to pull it in the boat.... I think this is an indication of things to come. Salmon fishing this year is going to be ridiculous! I look forward to my first Salmon BBQ for the year!

Salmon Dance
June 19th, 2009Last year we had a full Chinook opening after 44,00 fish finally passed through the Lower Fraser on August 8th. THIS YEAR we have already received our full opening! CRAZY! Over 60,00 Chinook have passed through the lower Fraser so far this year. I suggest booking a Guided Trip to Salmon Fish!

For Learning....
June 18th, 2009I did a 6 hour trip that was auctioned off for my daughters
preschool on Sunday. We had windy weather, but eventually the
temperature warmed, and so did the fishing. we landed 6 fish, with
the biggest being right on 6 feet!! The couple Lisa, and Sandy Dent
are from Ryder lake, and have never sturgeon fished before. They were
both pretty bagged, so I had them rest the fish on the motor deck for
a brief picture. Of course I sprayed it down with water before, and
offered the fish some chocolate, and even a drink of sparkling water,
ha ha.
enjoy
Bull Trout Anyone??
June 12th, 2009Bull Trout Anyone??
Well, it's that time of year again! If you have ever had the desire to chase Bull Trout (Char), the time is near.
For the next two months (June & July) these sea run char will be migrating into to their home waters, feeding up
and preparing to spawn. We call them trout, but they look, and feel more like salmon. An average fish is 2 to 5 lbs,
but in the past we have landed specimens as large as 14lbs!! You have to put your time in, and when you do the
reward is well worth it. The rivers we fish are absolutely beautiful, and see very little pressure. Several customers
have told me the wildlife, scenery, and and jetboat ride alone had made the trip before they even wet their lines!!
These brutes will definately test your gear, and an 8 weight rod is recommended. If needed, I supply my client's
with 8 weight rods by Sage, Wet tip lines by Rio, spooled onto Sage large arbor reels with a strong smooth drag.
As always, we provide you with our own hand tied flies!
Enjoy some pics from yesterdays adventure, and call to book your battle!

Good Fishing
June 4th, 2009It appears that with the water coming up over the last few weeks we haven't had to reorientate ourselves, normally it's changed so much over night it takes a little boat ride around to figure out where the fish went. In a time when the river is raging and changing everyday, we have still been very successful, no reorientating here! There have been lots of really nice Sturgeon caught all over the river from Mission to east of Chilliwack.
This is a pic of one of Jordi's nice fish caught on Tuesday with Steve, Simon, and Adam (all from the UK). One of a lovely double digit number I cannot disclose (We want to
exceed your expectations, not just meet them!!!!)
THIS BAD BOY IS 200 CMS (OR GIRL)
Tight Lines, enjoy the awesome weather, and get out fishing!

Mr. Bisson & Mr. Poisson!
May 30th, 2009For those of you who have no command of our OTHER national language it translates to:
Mr. Fishing Guide (Yves), and Mr. Fish! (For equality reasons it could also read "Ms. Poisson" as I have no idea what sex the fish was!)
Below is a Video Link:
It's an entertaining piece and we love the folks at West Coast Adventures TV for choosing to share their fishing experience with US!

I suggest you watch it, then attempt to replicate the experience. The actual video is on the right.

FINAL CUT
May 28th, 2009Well, National Geographic finally wrapped up a few consecutive years of filming with us!
Since I started in 2007, they have come for a visit 3 times to film our lovely prehistoric Sturgeon.
This trip they caught a 8 foot 5 on the very last day, last hour of fishing. Sturgeon are patient, they have been here for 65 Million years... what can I say, sometimes you gotta try, try, try again for the big one!
When the show airs, many months from now, I will let everyone know with a celebratory Post, and we can all toast and enjoy the wonderful filming and editing cababilities that the employees of National Geographic are endowed with!
For now enjoy the Pictures, or experience it for yourself!

River Sleeping
May 27th, 2009Ahhh it's finally that time of year for me!
When I am lucky I get a chance to sleep on the boat. It's slightly crammed but comfortable. The mosquito net is essential, and so are Mosquito coils, but the experience cannot be beat! Salmon fishing until the sun goes down, sturgeon fishing in the dark, setting up camp on the slowest moving section of the Fraser you can find, hoping you won't wake up in Japan! Its fun watching the little LED lights attached to the rods bounce up and down when you get a bite, or setting the drag and virtually ignoring the rods until you hear the "tick-tick-tick" of the reel.
Anyways, the point of this post is not to sell you a small corner of a foamie sleeping next to a snoring fishing guide it's to get you out on the River fishing!
Try an evening Sturgeon fishing, it's a great day to wind down after a hard day at work. You get to enjoy the beautiful sunsets and the quiet river and make the most of the best part of the day! Salmon season opens soon, so you can try that until dark!!!
Starts at $129 per person based on 4 ppl for a 4 hour.
