Fred's Priceless Expression....

October 3rd, 2009

Dear Baby Sturgeon,

You will grow up to be big and strong one day about 50-150 years from now, in fact someday you might find yourself battling this guy (Fred's) eventually grown up grandkid. You both will probably fight eachother hard, with you performing some aerial leaps and seal-like maneuvers to ditch the hook that ended up in your mouth. You may or may not enjoy it but it will definitely spice up your day, week, month or year! Believe me when I tell you that people love to try to catch you, and even more so, we love to track your progress through life! We are gentle when we tag you and we care lots about what happens to you over the years so please, pretty please, be still while we measure you. Could you also remember to smile for the camera, because you will be making an anglers dream come true!

I promise not to steal you and put you in my fish tank- but you need to promise to go out and spawn and make lots more little sturgeon babies.

Have a wonderful weekend. If you are looking for a good meal I think 3 of our guides are near the mouth of the Vedder right now with some very fresh bait...

Love From,

Ria

we still have some openings for October and November. Quite a few days open for walk and wades, Coho are here, Chum are moving up now and will be in full force shortly. Sturgeon fishing is always good! Have a great weekend. PS the Vedder is in great shape and we are offering walk and wade trips.

Strange Happenings...

September 26th, 2009

I am sure the regular readers of this post get bored of me harping about how awesome the fishing is... so here is a new one, that happened after an AWESOME day of fishing (of course)...

Thursday- my Monday, a lot of things happened. EVERYTHING was out of the ordinary.

3:30pm phone call: Car driving erratically careened approximately 15 feet off the Dyke up in the channel. Two suspects flee. 10 anglers descend on the scene in boats, one fishing guide pursues suspects. 911 is called, suspects held until police arrive. See pics below.

3:45pm phone call: "Ria, What's the forest fire hotline?"
"I don't know- Why?"
"Because Merr is fighting a forest fire with his wash down pump"
"Google says it's *5555"
"okay, thanks."
"what the..."

Yep, thats the day...

Oh did I mention we've been catching some Coho on the fly, AND there is space for the Rick Hansen Charity Classic, a great way to support Sturgeon and get a charity tax receipt! PS it's also really fun!

more pinks!

September 18th, 2009

Pink Salmon fishing has been really good, it's great for the beginner fly anglers also ( I still need to get out of the office...)

Sturgeon fishing has been exceptionally ridiculous also.

It's a wonderful year! PS there are Chinook salmon still around, and we are doing Walk and Wade trips on the Vedder river for Coho.

The coho should be showing up in the Fraser over the next few weeks until November.

Thanks,
Ria

Something about it...

September 16th, 2009

You know, there is something about Rick Hansen- everytime I see him fishing, or at a fishing related event he seems like the happiest guy in the world! It's probably because fishing is an AWESOME time!

This year has been phenomenal, guests who have been coming for years are saying the same thing- Wow!

Come out and try sturgeon fishing, we have got a couple more weeks left with the Pinks, and then forward on to Coho and Chum.

We have boats available for the Sturgeon Classic Derby with Rick, so if you are interested in raising some funds for an awesome species of fish you should sign up!

Below are a few others from last week... See you out there!

Have a great Day!

This is why you should come fishing with us!

September 14th, 2009

Hi Ria,

As usual our trip was fantastic! All six of us had a great time.

Don, Rob and Frank all caught their first Chinooks - all over 25lbs! Rob's as you know weighed in at 44lbs!

Fred caught his first Sturgeon - over 6 feet!

Eric managed to teach Frank, Fred, Matt and Don to cast a fly and all of them caught more than 10 pinks at their first attempt.

I fly fished the entire three days and caught well over 100 fish during that time!

Some fishing trip! Please pass on our thanks to Eric, Chad and Shane for a fantastic three days - these guys are the best!

John.

I've attached some pictures for your records!

Back Up!

September 11th, 2009

Well I don't yet have any pictures to back my claims up, I think all the guides have been too tired/busy to email me!

On Wednesday one of our Clients caught a 50lb Chinook Salmon! I hadn't heard of a fish of that size on the Fraser in quite some time, it was pretty unbelieveable, not to mention exciting for the guide and client! Chad made himn fight it hard all the way down the beach, perfect trophy fish for three hard days of catching lots of fish! The group went home with their Salmon limits.

Wednesday one boat also caught 6 Sturgeon over 7 feet! It was a pretty amazing day for BCSFG!

Yesterday was an awesome day for Chinook and Sturgeon again! And today so far we've seen a nice push of Red Chinook salmon through the system! All in all it's been fabulous fishing, not to mention that the Pinks are here in full force!

Soon we will see Coho too! I have a few weekend dates left for the last week in Sept. October we still have some prime dates left for Chum fishing (my favorite fishery!)

See you soon!

Thanks,
Ria

Pink and Brown

September 9th, 2009

The Brown family women from the UK came out to try their hand at fly fishing. Over 20 pink salmon later and they were exhausted! Come and try fly fishing! It is a wonderful time to do so as the Pink Salmon are here in abundance! They also work really well as sturgeon bait!

I have a shared Salmon trip September 26th if any single anglers of groups of 2ppl would like to join up we can cut you a good deal!

Thanks,

Ria

Looks like a Good Time!

September 6th, 2009

Hi there.
We fished today with Shane and Matt from Kodiak fishing and would like to share some of the photos from our great day.
I tried to "Blog" them but was unsuccessfull. I hope this is okay.
The big one was the winner of our day of 5 or 6 caught and was 10 feet long with a girth of 4 feet.
Awesome!
Thanks again,
Pete.
